The harvest 2022/2023 has been relatively difficult as the country has suffered from a particularly acute drought. This has led to a significant decrease in the volume of the Italian olive oil production and has also meant that particular oils could not be produced this year. Nevertheless, it has also produced some exceptional olive oil from a variety of regions.

Best italian olive oils

We have been tasting many new oils and would like to share some of our favourites.

1. Franci Villa Magra Grand Cru: one of the most awarded Italian olive oils, produced by Giorgio Franci in the Orcia Valley in the South of Tuscany. True to its reputation, this nectar always impresses us with its unique and intense flavour. It's balanced and harmonious and full of character.

2. Bono Val di Mazara DOP: produced in the Western part of Sicily, a medium fruity typical of the region, delicious on pasta and caprese salad.

3. Franci Delicate Organic: a new addition to the Franci range. With  ripe vegetal notes of tomatoes and artichoke leaves, it offers a sweet taste with mild bitterness and spiciness. It is one of our favourites for salads.
