The story of aix&terra begins in 2010 in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, a vibrant town celebrated for its gastronomic culture and Mediterranean way of life. At that time, aix&terra was a small artisanal shop on Place Richelme, a lively square famous for its daily market overflowing with seasonal produce, local olive oils, herbs, and handmade delicacies. When Marina and Richard first stepped into the boutique, they found themselves surrounded by colour, flavour, and the irresistible aromas that define French fine foods.
Having recently left Paris behind, the couple had settled in Mirmande in the Drôme Provençale, a picturesque village known for its culinary traditions and generous art de vivre. They had restored an old bastide there, embracing the slower rhythm of southern life. When they discovered the aix&terra grocery, the connection was immediate: its handcrafted products, natural ingredients, and celebration of regional recipes echoed everything they admired about Provence.
For Richard, born in Marseille to a family with a grocer heritage, the shop recalled the warmth and scents of the traditional Provençal stores he knew as a child. For Marina, originally from Barcelona, it embodied the joyful spirit and sunny generosity of the Mediterranean. Captivated by the beauty and authenticity of the concept, they made a spontaneous decision: overnight, they became the new owners.
Over the following five years, Marina and Richard lovingly developed aix&terra into a distinctive brand of artisanal French fine foods. While preserving the historic boutique in Aix-en-Provence, they expanded the range with innovative recipes crafted with the finest ingredients from across Provence — products designed to celebrate the region’s flavours and rediscover traditional gastronomy with contemporary creativity.
