Founded in 1890 in Bermeo, one of the great fishing ports of Spain’s Basque Country, Serrats has spent more than five generations perfecting the art of preserving exceptional fish. The company combines carefully selected tuna with traditional preparation and hand-packing techniques that preserve the delicate texture and flavour of the fish.

From Bonito del Norte to prized tuna belly
Serrats specialises in Bonito del Norte – Albacore or white tuna – from the Bay of Biscay, prized for its pale flesh, delicate flavour and tender texture.
The range launching at Planet Organic includes MSC-certified tuna preserved in organic olive oil, combining sustainably sourced fish with high-quality organic olive oil.
For something even more special, there is Ventresca – tuna belly. Taken from the tender belly of the tuna, ventresca is prized in Spain for its beautifully soft, succulent texture and rich flavour.
These aren't simply tins of tuna to keep at the back of the cupboard. The generous fillets and carefully prepared cuts make Serrats an exceptionally versatile Mediterranean ingredient.
Pintxos, antipasti, salads and more
Serve the tuna simply and let its quality speak for itself.
Use the fillets for Basque-style pintxos with roasted peppers, good bread and extra virgin olive oil; add generous flakes to Mediterranean salads; serve alongside olives, artichokes and vegetables as part of an antipasti or tapas platter; or use Serrats tuna to transform sandwiches, pasta and simple potato dishes.
Ventresca deserves even less intervention: serve the delicate belly fillets at room temperature with good bread, tomatoes or roasted peppers and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
