What is the Great Taste Award?

The Great Taste Award is organised annually by the Guild of Fine Food and is widely considered the UK's most rigorous and respected independent food quality benchmark. Over 500 expert judges — including chefs, food writers, restaurateurs and fine food buyers — taste products blind, meaning they have no knowledge of brand, price or packaging. Products are assessed purely on flavour and quality. Fewer than a third of the thousands of products entered each year receive any award. One star means "simply delicious", two stars means "above and beyond delicious", and three stars — awarded to fewer than 2% of entries — represents "extraordinarily good".
